Reflection - RnD2 - 'To Weave'

Act / Make / Do - Describe what you did.

I attempted to create a project based around my selected word 'To Weave'. I wanted to do this by creating a UI interface that 'weaved' within the world of the game, which I attempted to create.

Think / Feel / Decisions - Tell us how the above activity made you think, how the activity made you feel, and your reasons for the decisions you made.

My initial thoughts for the task were picking a word I could relate to games development. Because of this, I ended up stretching the brief a little - or at least, I feel like I did. Because of that, I decided to try my best at keeping my process documented as much as possible. I also did as much research as I could, along with using as many references too.

Analyse - Look at the work that has emerged and break it down to each of its contributing elements; does each element contribute to the whole? How can the work be read? What do you take from the work? What might we see as your viewer take from the work? Is the intent behind the work communicated?

While I didn't iterate as much as I liked to, I've still created a solid foundation that can fit in with my selected word. The game is playable, accessible, and is able to be built on in the future. While it may not exactly fit in the word, 'To Weave', I can still make practical use of this work in the future for the development of the game.

Evaluate - What are the works strengths and what are the works weaknesses?

I feel the strengths of this work is the fact that it has a practical use. The weaknesses, however? I believe that it's stretching the brief far too thin for the project. It works, though, so I will do what I can to fit it in.

Next Steps - What are your next steps? How do you take the strengths within the work forward and how do you exclude any weaknesses?

The best I can do with the weaknesses is hope for the best. That's all I can do with it, really - the strengths, however? I can make a lot of use this! I can take this work and expand on it, turning the game into a full, releasable project.
